Electrical Services in Bend & Redmond, OR
Panel upgrades, new construction wiring, service calls, and electrical repairs for homes and businesses across Central Oregon.
Beard Electric provides residential and commercial electrical services throughout Central Oregon. Whether you need a panel upgrade, new construction wiring, a service call for an existing problem, or repairs after storm damage, we handle the full scope of electrical work.
Panel upgrades are one of the most common jobs we do. Older homes often have 100-amp or 150-amp panels that were adequate when they were installed but can’t keep up with today’s electrical loads — EV chargers, heat pumps, home offices, and modern appliances all draw more power than homes from the 1970s and 80s were designed to handle. Upgrading to a 200-amp or 400-amp panel gives you the capacity you need and brings your service entrance up to current code.
New construction wiring requires careful coordination with the rest of the build schedule. We work directly with general contractors and owner-builders to rough in circuits on time, pass inspections, and complete trim-out once the drywall is done. We wire single-family homes, ADUs, shops, barns, and light commercial buildings.
Service calls cover a wide range of issues: outlets that have stopped working, circuits that trip repeatedly, lights that flicker, GFCI outlets that won’t reset, and wiring that was done incorrectly by a previous contractor. We diagnose the problem, explain what we find, and give you a clear price before we start any repair work.
All of our electrical work is performed by licensed electricians and pulled with the required permits. We carry liability insurance and are bonded, so you’re protected throughout the project.
Common questions
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if my electrical panel needs to be upgraded?
Common signs include frequently tripping breakers, a panel that still uses fuses instead of breakers, flickering lights when appliances run, or a panel rated at 100 amps or less in a home with modern electrical loads. If your home is more than 30 years old and the panel has never been replaced, it’s worth having a licensed electrician take a look.
Do I need a permit for electrical work in Oregon?
Yes. Most electrical work in Oregon requires a permit issued through the Oregon Building Codes Division or your local jurisdiction. Permitted work is inspected, which protects you when you sell the home and ensures the work meets current safety codes. We handle permit applications as part of the job.
What is involved in wiring a new construction home?
New construction wiring happens in phases: rough-in (running wire through framing before drywall), trim-out (installing devices and fixtures after drywall), and final inspection. We coordinate with your general contractor and schedule inspections at each phase so the project stays on track.
How quickly can you respond to a service call?
For standard service calls we typically schedule within a few business days. For urgent issues — such as a panel that has lost power or a wiring problem that poses a safety risk — call us directly at (541) 600-2026 and we will do our best to get to you as soon as possible.
